Our closest vineyard is the Domaine du Haut Pécharmant, renowned for lush, full-bodied reds.
Well-known for its selection of red wines, the Domaine has 35 hectares of vineyards.
Offering one of the most well-regarded wine tours in St Emilion, Château Jean Faure shares its terroir with renowned names such as Cheval Blanc, Pomerol, and Figeac.

A WEEK OF MARKETS
Sainte Alvère - Monday
Our closest village, St-Alvère hosts a vibrant weekly market selling local produce and is renowned for its wonderful truffles.
During the summer months, there is also a night market.
Sarlat - Wednesday
Probably one of the most well-known medieval towns in this region of France, Sarlat hosts a large market on wednesdays.
You are sure to find the local specialties you are looking for in Sarlat! PS: It also has a market on Saturday mornings.
Le Bugue - Tuesday
Located just a few kilometers from Ste-Alvère, this attractive town is home to the Gouffre de Proumeyssac and nice views of the River Doux.
It is also a great town for canoeing experiences!
Lalinde - Thursday
Located just 15-minutes away, the Lalinde market is one of the closest markets to La Geneste. Lalinde is a relatively small bastide town close to the banks of the Dordogne.
Brantôme - Friday
Known as the Venice of Perigord, Brantôme boasts lovely views as the town is located around its abbey, its water sources, on the beautiful Dronne river.
Issigeac - Sunday
Located just to the south of Bergerac, Issigeac is one of the most authentic and idyllic medieval towns of the Dordogne. Its busy market bustles with activity every Sunday.

Périgeux - Saturday
As the capital of the Perigord region, Périgeux is not your traditional touristy town. The market takes place in the shadow of the Saint-Front cathedral and is home to local producers from all around the region. A beautiful and interesting city!
Saint-Cyprien - Sunday
Around 10 kilometers from Les Eyzies, (and 20kms from Sarlat) St Cyprien is home to the number one rated market in the region.

ACTIVITIES
If you are in the mood for something more adventurous, how about a canoe trip, taking in the magnificent views on the way?
Based in Le Bugue, Canoëric offers a variety of canoe trips and stand-up paddle all around the area.
Golf
There are many golf courses in the region.
The closest, located 20 minutes from La Geneste, the Golf du Château des Merles is a 9-hole golf course in the heart of the Bergerac vineyard. It is home to an excellent bistro and gastronomic restaurant.
Cycling
Bike hire is available if you would like to explore some of the beautiful countryside on two wheels or, there are trail maps available for those who prefer hiking.

Take a trip to see the amazing cave paintings at Lascaux.
The Vézère Valley or "Prehistoric Valley" includes some of the most interesting and famous prehistoric sites in the world within a radius of some fifty kilometres. Fifteen of these sites are listed as World Heritage with UNESCO.
As one of the most authentic and well-preserved Fortresses of the Perigord, the Château de Beynac is a great way to discover the medieval history of the region as well as a great place to see some of the best views of the Dordogne.
Famous for being full of canons, catapults and fascinating history, Château Castelnaud is one of the most visited castles in Southern France. Great for kids!
10 minutes from Bergerac, this castle is well-known for its games... everywhere! In the dungeon, in the grounds, in the halls... Perfect for young and old alike.
Appealing to young to old, this castle sits atop prehistoric caves. Inside, you will find a fantastic medieval games room and there are plenty picnic areas around the grounds.
Built in 1550, Château de Monbazillac, carries the name of one of the most famous sweet white wines in France.
